NARNOK

NARNOK has no attacks
There is only NAR, the essence of good and order. There is only NOK, the essence of evil and chaos. Build your universe and assemble your alien lineup. Battle other players' ghost lineups and gain more NARNOK than them.

NARNOK is all that matters
There are no health points, armor, gold or other currency. Collect more NAR and NOK than your opponent in each battle. The shared, neutral pool of NARNOK acts as a timer, ensuring all battles come to an end.
NARNOK allows you to customize everything
Buy and sell cards, inventory slots and even shops themselves. Customize your run and home universe in any way you like. Why would you be restricted?

NARNOK gives you choice
Unlike other auto-battlers, you don't face a random enemy with an overpowered build. You can preview enemy universes and pick the exact player you want to battle.
NARNOK has weird lineups
Your weird alien lineup does the hard work. They gather NARNOK, they steal it, they spawn it.

NARNOK is real players
Each player begins from the same starting point. All the enemies you battle were once like you, building a lineup trying to succeed. You battle their ghosts, echoes of their decisions and their lineups at a given point in time.
NARNOK has collections
Discover and collect cards as you play in your personal codex. Each has the chance of being a rare, alternate skin of the base cards.

NARNOK awaits you.

Sometimes cards stall out once they fill their cooldown bar? Seems like either cooldown buffs or cooldown advancements aren't being registered by the game? I had the acquire medium -> reduce cooldown effect applied multiple times to the scaling Nar gatherer. It seemed that he waited for his original cooldown rather than his upgraded one, just waiting once his progress bar filled. I had a duplicate of him in my board at one point and thought maybe that was causing it but it still happened after selling the duplicate.
Very cool, a Bazaar-like with a resource gathering twist. I was thinking about potential designs for resource-gathering autobattlers as well and was struggling to think of a cohesive system, but this is a very clean interpretation that fits nicely in the Autobattler tradition while having a unique spin on a specific aspect of the genre. I have to play a few more runs for better feedback but the core design had a strong appeal immediately. I might be an outlier but I was also hooked from the thumbnail forthe 'autogatherer' idea because I was thinking about similar ideas and wanted to see what you came up with :)
I have to say as well that while most components of the game visually are pretty bare-bones, the card art themselves are very detailed and have a lot of character, and combined with the parallax effect is beautiful and really elevates the overall visual appeal of the game massively!
Artist for Narnok here! We are currently working on revamping everything beyond the card art (general UI and such) but so glad to hear you're enjoying the game and art so far!
Cool game! Wasn't sure if you could level up cards and found a bug where the game freezes if you drop a card on another card of the same type. Still able to reload and continue the run though :)
Edit: Or actually maybe its just when dropping any card on another when they don't shift over properly?
Legend!
Nice find, seems like it was a web only issue - it should swap the items when you drop from Storage to Inventory, and the inventory is full, I've deployed a hotfix to fix that, so it shouldn't happen again.
In the future will be posting Desktop builds as well (already got a private steam preview desktop build, just not a desktop itch version), runs are all persisted server side so any crashes shouldn't change anything luckily
I considered adding card upgrades, but paused that idea for now to try and make it easier to balance/design, but might revisit it in the future.
v0.4 (coming soon™) will be somewhat radically different as well, thanks for testing the alpha in its current rough condition!
Appreciate the feedback and support, its super motivating for me, as appreciation as my first ever reviewer, will name a character Babu :D
Keep up the awesome work! 😊
Babu (a statue character) is now in the game :D
